Align industry on the needs of the sector and its positions
Represent the sector at EU level and promote an understanding of the industry towards all stakeholders
Prepare the sector and its members for changes
About us
PROFEL, the European Association of Fruit and Vegetable Processing Industries, is the recognised voice of the processed fruit and vegetable sector in Europe Our association represents approximately 400 companies in 11 European countries through national associations or direct company membership. The members of PROFEL employ more than 80.000 people. The combined turnover of our members amounts to an impressive figure – roughly €22 billion.

What we do
PROFEL
monitors legislative developments relevant to the fruit and vegetable processing sector,
coordinates technical projects and scientific research to face joint challenges,
provides information and support to its members, advises them on policy matters likely to affect their businesses, such as regulatory, agricultural and trade-related policies, and facilitates technical cooperation
promotes a spirit of cooperation between the different countries,
provides expertise and input to legislators and decision-makers,
PROFEL promotes a positive image for the processed fruit and vegetable sector by raising the profile of the products our members produce through communicating the following benefits:
- Excellent nutritional qualities – processed fruit and vegetables maintain vital nutrients during processing and thus contribute significantly to the recommended daily intake of essential nutrients
- Industry compliance with highest quality and production standards
- Product availability year-‘round at stable prices
- Convenience and long shelf life
Representation in Brussels
The Association works closely with other Brussels stakeholders to prepare reports and official comments on issues of common interest and has an active role in several policy platforms and coalitions, including the following:
- Representation on the EU Commission’s Civil Dialog Group « Fruit and Vegetables»
- Representation on the EU Commission's Advisory Group Sustainable Food Systems
- Member of the “Agri Food Chain Round table for Plant Protection Product” supporting effective networking with farmers, the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, the cereals sector and other relevant groups, to foster cooperation on plant protection products
- Member of FoodDrinkEurope – EU’s Umbrella Organisation for the food and drinks industry
- Member of CIUS – the Committee of Industrial Users of Sugar
- Member of the "Close the Glass Loop" coalition
